Labor MK Amir Peretz said Saturday he supported the release of jailed Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti if it meant that IDF soldier Gilad Schalit would be freed from Hamas captivity.

Speaking at a Beersheba event, Peretz said: “Hamas would see it as a victory, and that will anger us. But I am willing to take two days of celebrations in Gaza in exchange for [Schalit]. If we had done it two years ago, it would already be behind us.”
