European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton Thursday "utterly condemned" an attack on the British Embassy in Tehran earlier this week, which she described as an attack on the entire European bloc.

Following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Ashton said the council of ministers "is outraged by the attack on the British embassy in Tehran and utterly condemns it."

Additionally, she said that the ministers consider "actions against the UK as actions against the EU as a whole."
