Barkat: Liberman mad at me for shunning political appointments

Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat attacked Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Liberman Thursday for running Moshe Lion as a candidate against him. Barkat said Liberman decided to try unseat him because he refused to appoint Liberman's cronies to political patronage positions in the city for which they were unqualified.
"He thinks everyone works for him, but I work for the residents of Jerusalem," Barkat told Army Radio. Liberman declined to respond but his associates said that "Jerusalemites pay property taxes as if they live in Manhattan but receive services as if they live in Damascus."
