The Jerusalem Municipality petitioned the High Court of Justice on Tuesday to be allowed to appoint a Zionist rabbi as the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem.

Mayor Nir Barkat submitted a complaint against the Minister of Religious Services Yaakov Margi and the committee that chooses Jerusalem rabbies. The case will prevent the minister and the committee from choosing a rabbi until the court makes a decision.
