A 29-year-old man tried to murder his ex-wife by first beating her with a rock and then stabbing her with a screwdriver, which he finally plunged into her right eye, according to an indictment filed in the Beersheba District Court on Thursday.

Eyal Vanunu and his ex-wife, identified as S., divorced in March after a four year marriage that produced a daughter.

The southern district attorney also filed a request that Vanunu be remanded in custody throughout the legal proceedings against him.
