Ben-Eliezer: Mofaz sold his soul to the devil

Labor MK Binyamin Ben-Eliezer on Wednesday accused Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz of eroding hope, convincing the public that the public sphere and its public servants were "garbage" and selling "your soul to the devil."
Speaking in the Knesset on the occasion of the expected approval of Mofaz's deal with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for Kadima to join the government,  Ben-Eliezer lamented how a courageous and admirable military commander such as Mofaz had come to what he saw as such a low point.
Ben-Eliezer said that Mofaz had united with Netanyahu despite repeatedly telling the Labor MK that he viewed Netanyahu as a liar and that he disagreed with Netanyahu on the peace process and Iran.
The labor MK said that he had witnessed a lot of dirty politics in his time in the Knesset since 1984, but nothing as extreme as Mofaz's sudden turnabout from opposition leader to joining the government.
Ben-Eliezer appealed directly to Mofaz telling him that he could have recovered in the polls enough to do well in what was expected to be September elections, but instead cut a deal that only profited Netanyahu, buying him time to strengthen himself and the Likud party.
