A bicycle rider was killed overnight Friday after being hit by a private vehicle on Route 40 near Rehovot.

Magen David Adom crews who arrived on the scene attempted to resuscitate the man but were forced to pronounce him dead on the scene.

Police were investigating the circumstances of the incident.
