Widespread power outages occurred across Israel on Friday morning due to a production malfunction at an Israel Electric Corporation plant in Ashkelon, leaving people stuck in elevators, and disrupting the activity of traffic lights.

The IEC managed to return the power supply and so-far prevent further blackouts.

Electricity outages affected about ten percent of homes across the country, according to Israel Radio.
