A Christian man was killed and another wounded in a street fight in a southern Beirut suburb on Tuesday night, Lebanese security officials said. The clash occurred night in an area between the Christian neighborhood of Ein Rummaneh and predominantly Shi'ite Muslim area of Shiyah, said the officials on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media. It was not clear if the clash was for sectarian reasons or whether it was criminal, the officials said. Sporadic clashes have occurred in the area in recent years. Dozens of angry Christians gathered in Ein Rummaneh's streets as Lebanese troops deployed to put the situation under control, the officials said.
