Clinton arrives in Malta to discuss Libya with PM

VALLETTA - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Malta early on Tuesday for talks with Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi on the situation in Libya.
She was welcomed at the airport by Maltese Foreign Minister Tonio Borg.
Clinton is due to meet Gonzi later on Tuesday in the capital Valletta.
Malta has been involved in the Libyan crisis by serving as a logistics point for the evacuation of workers and the provision of humanitarian aid. It has also had a role in air traffic control over Libya.
British Foreign Secretary William Hague visited Malta on Sunday and Monday before flying on to Libya.
Clinton is the most senior US administration official to visit the Mediterranean island since President George Bush (senior) and Secretary of State James Baker were here for the superpower meeting with then Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev in 1989.
