David D’or, Rita chosen to sing for Obama

Singers David D’or and Rita have been chosen to perform at the state dinner President Shimon Peres is hosting for President Barack Obama at the President’s Residence March 21 during his visit next week. The golden-throated soprano D’or will perform a rendition of the traditional spiritual tune “Amazing Grace.”
“It’s a great honor for me to appear before the president of the United States,” said David D’or in a statement. “I’ve represented Israel in performances around the world before world leaders, but to be chosen by President Peres to represent Israeli culture and perform for Barack Obama is very exciting for me.”
It’s unclear whether Rita will sing songs from her recent excursion to her Persian roots or stick to her Hebrew classics. After all, as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will likely be lobbying Obama during his visit to go after Iran’s nuclear program, it may prove counterproductive to perform peaceful Iranian lullabies for the American leader.
