EU foreign policy chief meets with Iran's Rouhani ahead of inauguration

 Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met with European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and other world leaders in Tehran on Saturday (August 5) ahead of taking oath of office before parliament.

A number of world leaders are expected to attend the Iranian president's inauguration ceremony, including Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Iraqi President Fouad Massoum, who met with Rouhani on Saturday at the presidential palace in Tehran.

Rouhani won the endorsement of Iran's supreme leader for his second term as president on Thursday (August 3) after an easy election win, pledging to open Iran to foreign trade and investment but facing internal hardline resistance and renewed US antagonism.
