Edelstein: Israeli-Lithuanian relations are very good

The Israeli-Lithuanian relations have reached new highs, Knesset speaker Yuli Edelstein said this week during a meeting with the Lithuanian ambassador to Israel.

"Over the past four years more than 25 high-level governmental visits took place, the trade and tourism have doubled, the direct flight from Tel Aviv to Vilnius is operating successfully and the cultural cooperation is diversely developing," Edelstein said.

He also expressed appreciation of the Lithuanian government's actions to ensure the preservation of the rich Lithuanian Jewish culture and historical heritage.

Lithuania's Foreign Minister is expected to visit Israel and meet with Shimon Peres later this year.
