Additional diplomatic talks with Iran on Tehran's nuclear program are expected on Friday, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House Friday.
"Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. I'm not happy with them, but more talks are expected on Friday. I want to make a deal with them," he said before departing on a flight to Texas.
When asked about using military force, Trump responded, "I don't want to, but sometimes you have to."
Talks over Tehran's nuclear program continued this week amid a massive US military buildup in the region.
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, who mediated the discussions between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Geneva on Thursday, travelled to Washington on Friday to meet with US Vice President JD Vance.
In a post on X/Twitter, Al Busaidi wrote that "Peace is within our reach," and that he looked forward to "decisive progress in the coming days."
Additionally, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Israel next week to discuss Iran, the State Department said in a statement on Friday.
Rubio is set to travel to Israel March 2-3, said the State Department. He is also set to discuss other regional priorities, including Lebanon and US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan.
