An African refugee who tried to illegally cross the border from Egypt into Israel was shot to death on Friday by Egyptian border patrol officers. According to Egypt, the police opened fire when the man refused to heed their calls for him to stop and turn around. Human Rights organizations have reported that since 2007, at least 26 African refugees have been shot and killed by the Egyptians while trying to cross illegally into Israel.
