In an interview on the BBC network show "Panorama," IDF Maj.-Gen. Giora Eiland said that Turkish activists abroad the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara were steadfast in using violence and killing IDF soldiers, even at the price of their own lives, Israel Radio reported Sunday.

According to the report, Eiland said that the resistance by the activists was stronger than expected and expressed surprise that the number of dead was not higher due to the violent circumstances posed by the activists in an area that was difficult to operate in.
