An El Al plane, flight 29 to Toronto, returned safely to Ben Gurion Airport about half an hour after takeoff early Sunday morning after one of the engines shut down. Aboard the Boeing 767 were 194 passengers, who were taken care of immediately by the landing crew upon their arrival back to Ben Gurion, an El Al spokeswoman said.

A few hours later, at 6:30 a.m., the passengers were transferred to an alternative plane for their journey to Toronto. Meanwhile, the original plane was being checked and inspected, according to the company.

"El Al sees flight safety as a supreme value and does not compromise on the subject, minor or serious," a statement from the firm said.
