Eli Yishai proposes cutting funds to universities with large percentage of draft-dodgers

MK Eli Yishai (Shas) proposed a bill on Wednesday to withhold funding to academic institutions in which the percentage of draft-dodgers is 20 percent or higher.

The proposal was inspired by the recent High Court ruling to deny Yeshiva students funding for failing to heed draft notices.

Yishai stated that the High Court order to cut yeshiva funds due to haredi army evasion deserves an "equalizing step" to include higher learning institutions in which more than 20 percent of the students have not served in the IDF.
