A fire in the northern Galilee forced the evacuation of the Tel Hai Academic College and a nearby factory, until firefighters could get a handle on the fire.

The fire also forced police to close several roads in the Kiryat Shmona area, including highway 90 north of the city towards Metulla, and highway 9977 near the Tel Hai junction, due to heavy smoke.

The fire was made especially dangerous because of the heavy winds in the area, but by early evening Northern District police announced that firefighters had managed to get the fire under control. Large reinforcements of firefighters were called to the area to fight the blaze and the fire service also deployed 6 aircraft which helped to put out the blaze.

No one was hurt in the blaze, and by 6 p.m. police had reopened all closed roads in the area.
