Six people were evacuated to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya following an Iranian missile barrage towards northern Israel, Magen David Adom announced on Sunday.
According to MDA, the wounded people were in a car at the time of the missile strike. The damage didn't come from glass breaking or shrapnel, it added, but from the shockwave. Several other people were also treated for anxiety at the scene.
"We received reports of a number of minor injuries as a result of the impact," an MDA paramedic stated.
"We went to the scene in ambulances, intensive care vehicles, and MDA motorcycles. We arrived at the scene within a few minutes and saw shattered car windows and 6 people who were lightly wounded from the impact, and we treated several more panic victims. We scanned the area to locate additional wounded people, and currently we have not found any additional victims."
Baby lightly wounded after missile hits building in northern Israel
Later on Sunday, an Iranian barrage triggered sirens across northern Israel.
In one location, a missile hit a building in Haifa, leading to several people being wounded, Israeli media reported.
A baby was lightly wounded in the hit, while an 82-year-old man was heavily wounded. MDA stated that they were treating four wounded in total, including two others who had been lightly wounded by fragments and the shockwave, as well as another five people who were suffering from anxiety.
The 82-year-old man was taken to Rambam hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His wife is also undergoing treatment at the hospital, after being moderately wounded at the same time.
Israel's Fire and Rescue Authority also stated that the building had caught fire following the missile impact, and that they were surveying the site out of concern for the possibility of people being trapped inside. There was some risk of the structure collapsing entirely, they added, and the Lehava special rescue unit had been summoned to assist in the operation.
Four people remained unaccounted for, the Fire and Rescue Authority also said, with a possibility that they had been trapped beneath the rubble.
Police Commissioner Daniel Levy stated that the missile has likely not detonated yet, meaning that surrounding buildings would need to be evacuated.
Fragments fall in southern Israel
At least one instance of intercepted missile fragments hit southern Israel earlier on Sunday afternoon, United Hatzalah announced.
The IDF, confirming United Hatzalah's announcement, noted that Search and Rescue Brigade soldiers were mobilized to the area where the reported hit occurred.
Ramat Hovav officials stated that they received reports that a factory in the town's industrial zone was hit, but emphasized that they had received no reports of damage within Ramat Hovav's residential areas.
