Former US President Jimmy Carter confirms that he has cancer

In an official statement posted to the Carter Center website, Former US President Jimmy Carter confirmed that he is suffering from liver cancer and that the disease has spread.

"Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is nin other parts of my body," the online statement read.

The former US commander and cheif added that his schedule will be recalibrated to account for medical treatment by physicians at Emory Healthy in Atlanta, Georgia.

The post also mentioned that "a more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week."
