The IDF will not reduce mandatory army service from three years to two-and-a-half, Israel Radio reported Sunday.

The statute maintaining the draft period at three years' service was extended for a year-and-a-half. Defense Minister Ehud Barak had asked to extend the statute by two years but was opposed by the Finance Ministry.
