Hamas: IPS halts visits between Gazan Hamas prisoners and their families

The Israel Prison Service decided to halt visits between Gazan prisoners affiliated with Hamas and their families until further notice, Hamas said on Thursday

Hamas said irregardless of the price, it will not allow the decision to be implemented.

It also called the decision “the beginning of a war on [Hamas’s] prisoners.”

The IPS declined to confirm the change.

There are more than one hundred Hamas-connected prisoners from Gaza in Israeli jails, serving various sentences.

40 Knesset members signed a petition on June 14, demanding that Israel freeze visits between Gazan prisoners and their families until the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, two soldiers who were killed in Operation Protective Edge, are returned to Israel. Hamas took the two soldiers bodies captive during the war.
