A senior Hamas member on Monday denied reports published in the Palestinian press claiming that significant progress had been made in talks to secure the release of captured IDF solider Gilad Schalit in return for Hamas prisoners incarcerated in Israel. According to the official, who spoke with the London-based Arab daily Al Sharq Al-Awsat, the decision on any prisoner swap deal would be taken by Hamas' military wing and not by its political echelon.
