Iran puts 2nd opposition leader under house arrest

TEHRAN — A reformist website said Iranian authorities have cut the phone lines of Iranian opposition leader Hossein Mousavi and cordoned off his house to prevent him from attending a rally in support of anti-government protests in Egypt.
Kaleme.com said police have stationed several cars in front of Mousavi's home ahead of the demonstration called for later Monday in central Tehran.
Mousavi and fellow opposition leader Mahdi Karroubi have been under house arrest since last week.
The Iranian government has rejected the opposition's request to stage the rally and has warned of a crackdown if it does.
