Israeli security forces thwarted a possible stabbing attack in Jerusalem with the arrest Sunday of a female Palestinian who had allegedly planned a terrorist attack.

In light of intelligence received on the 36-year-old resident of the capital's Old City, police and Border Police officers arrived to her house and conducted searches.

During investigations of her home, security forces seized two knives next to a Koran, which police said she intended to use in an attack. The suspect was then arrested and taken for further questioning. A request for the extension of her custody was also filed to a Jerusalem court.
