Istanbul will bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games, Army Radio reported Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday as saying.

"The Turkish economy is growing without bounds, and the investment we are putting into developing sports and international organizations makes us an ideal contender to host the summer games," Erdogan said, according to the report.

Other cities hoping to host the Olympics include Rome, Tokyo, and Madrid.
