An unidentified middle-aged Israeli man from the capital’s southern Gilo neighborhood was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly committing several unspecified sexual offenses against a number of young boys living in the area.

Although police are releasing limited information due to the ages of the victims, Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said on Wednesday that an investigation into the man was recently launched after parents in the neighborhood filed several complaints against the suspect.

“There was information and complaints that were received about a suspect in his 40s living there who was carrying out sexual offenses against boys on the streets in the neighborhood,” Rosenfeld said.

“An undercover investigation was immediately carried out, and the man was arrested.”

Rosenfeld said the suspect was arraigned at Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, during which time a judge ordered he remain in custody until January 19, pending completion of the investigation.
