"The IDF and security forces thwarted a serious disaster," said head of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, on Sunday.

"It is important to note that, this single tunnel had one goal: to murder innocent women and children in Israel," Lapid said. "The UN Security Council and international community must understand, with certainty, that the threat of tunnels on Israel is significant and destructive - just as much as the threat of missile or terror attacks."

Lapid said that world must back Israel in its fight against the tunnels, which he equated with "a land invasion of Israel."
