Police seized 30.9 kilograms of marijuana and 399 marijuana plants Wednesday night in a major drug bust in Yavneh. The growth operation was found after a planned search of a Yavneh apartment; a couple in their 30s was arrested in connection to the marijuana operation.

In addition, the couple is alleged to have been stealing electricity for the growth operation. The couple is currently detained and police are seeking to extend their detention in the Rishon Lezion Magistrates Court as of Thursday afternoon.

Marijuana is legal for medical use in Israel, however recreational use is outlawed.
