Leading Technion physicist Prof. Moti Segev to receive Israel Prize

Professor Mordechai Segev, a physics researcher in the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, will be awarded the Israel Prize in physics in May, it was announced on Sunday.

"Professor Segev is a pioneering physicist in the field of optics and lasers. His innovative contributions are a source of inspiration and his scientific work is quoted in thousands of scientific articles," the Israel Prize committee wrote.

Education Minister Shai Pirson and Technion President Professor Peretz Lavie called Segev on Sunday to congratulate him.

The Israel Prize is largely regarded as the state's highest honor. It is presented annually on Independence Day in a state ceremony in Jerusalem in the presence of the president, the prime minister, the Knesset speaker and the Supreme Court president.
