A powerful quake of magnitude 7.7 struck in the northern Pacific Ocean between the tip of the Aleutian Islands and Russia's Kamchatka, the US Geological Survey said.
The quake was shallow and powerful enough to trigger a tsunami but there was no immediate advisory.
