Israel will not let Islamic State or any other hostile organization use the chaos of the war in Syria to set up shop on Israel's northern borders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.

Netanyahu, speaking at the start of a special cabinet session held in fire-ravaged Haifa, opened up the meeting by praising the IDF for successfully thwarting an attack in the north where the borders of Israel, Jordan and Syria meet. The IAF on Sunday morning struck and killed a terrorist cell affiliated with Islamic State that fired at IDF soldiers on the southern Golan Heights.

“We are very prepared on our northern border, and we will not allow Islamic State, nor other hostile elements, use the war in Syria as cover to set themselves up on our borders,” he said.
