Netanyahu wants to remove checkpoints hindering settlement construction

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday night that he would make efforts to remove checkpoints which are hindering construction in the West Bank, Army Radio reported. During a meeting with Likud leaders, Samaria Regional Council chair Gershon Mesika asked that Netanyahu authorize new construction in the area. In response, the prime minister cited strong international pressure on Israel regarding settlement construction, but said that nonetheless, he would pursue the matter.
