A Palestinian Authority spokesman condemned the IAF airstrikes in the Gaza Strip Tuesday that resulted in the death of a Palestinian toddler, calling for international intervention to stop mounting tensions in the Strip, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported.

The IAF strikes were in retaliation for the killing for a Defense Ministry contractor by Palestinian sniper fire on the Israeli-Gaza border earlier in the day.

Ehab Bessaiso said the PA had contacted international sides to intervene to stop the escalation of violence on the Gaza frontier, the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
