Yuval Diskin's term as Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) head was extended by another year on Sunday, following a request made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The prime minister stressed the importance of Diskin's work in the current political climate and praised him for his extensive experience in matters of national security. Defense Minister Ehud Barak said during Monday's cabinet meeting that Diskin "is an excellent man, experienced and professional, whose integrity has made possible the deep-seated cooperation with the IDF against threats in recent years." Diskin's term will now end in 2012.
