PM sends letter to Obama asking for Pollard's release

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday sent a letter to US President Barack Obama in which he asked for the release of convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, citing humanitarian reasons.
Netanyahu, who was expected to read the letter at the Knesset plenum Tuesday evening, wrote that a long time had passed since Pollard was imprisoned in the US.
Pollard was given a life sentence in prison in 1987 on charges of on the US for Israel.
