President Shimon Peres will meet with American Senator John McCain on Saturday evening to discuss the strengthening of strategic relations between Israel and the United States.

McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential contender, is in Israel with other senators, members in the Senate's Armed Forces, Homeland Security and Budget committees.

Other topics expected to be discussed in the meeting are Israel's relations with its neighbors and the Iranian issue.
