Police on Saturday night arrested three suspects they believe may have torched the car of the Be'er Ya'acov Local Council Head Nissim Gozlan earlier in the night.

Police said that they suspect the assailants threw a firebomb at the car, setting it alight. All three are currently undergoing questioning by police and will be brought to a remand extension on Sunday.

No one was hurt in the incident, but police in the Shfela subdistrict have set up a special investigative team to examine the motives behind the incident.

Gozlan himself said Sunday he believes the incident was linked to moves to cut the workforce of the local council, but he said “these incidents wont deter me, we are determined to continue the exact same path that we began.”

Just last Wednesday a kindergarten was torched in Be'er Ya'acov. It is unclear if the two incidents are linked.
