President of Egyptian Jewish Community dies at age of 82

The president of the Egyptian Jewish Community Council, Carmen Weinstein, passed away Saturday at the age of 82, the result of numerous health problems, reported the Bassatine News, Egypt's sole Jewish news source.
"The tireless long term president of the JCC died in her Zamalek home in the very early hours of this morning," the report stated. "She had been suffering from her knees and poor blood circulation for some time now," the newsletter said of her health problems.
Although suffering from various illnesses, her condition "did not deter her from attending to official functions," like inspecting the renovation progress of the Maadi Synagogue annex the day before her passing, Bassatine News reported.
