Israeli and Iranian officials met in Cairo last month to discuss nuclear issues in the Middle East, according to media reports Thursday morning.
AFP quoted an Israeli Atomic Energy Commission representative as confirming the meeting, which she said was organized by Australia.
"These meetings were held behind closed doors," the spokeswoman was further quoted as saying.
She did not give any additional details.
