Report: Leiderman turns down BOI governor nomination

Bank Hapoalim chief economist Leo Leiderman has turned down the nomination for becoming the next Bank of Israel governor, Israel Radio reported on Friday afternoon.
Two days after front runner Jacob Frenkel withdrew his candidacy for the job, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yair Lapid announced Leiderman as their preferred candidate for the job.
Specific reasons for Leiderman's refusal of the job were unavailable, but it appears the saga of the Bank of Israel governor job will drag on awhile longer until a suitable candidate can be found.
