TEHRAN - An earthquake hit near the north-eastern Iranian city of Mashhad on Thursday, the semi-official Fars news reported. No details of damage or casualties were immediately available."This afternoon's earthquake in Mashhad measured about 5.5 on the Richter scale," Fars quoted a local Red Crescent official as saying.
