Britain has banned controversial French comedian Dieudonne M'bala M'bala from entering the UK, AFP cited the British Home Office as saying.

The comic who has been accused of using anti-Semitic rhetoric in his acts was allegedly planning to visit the UK to support fellow Frenchman Nicolas Anelka who plays for English soccer club  and was recently charged for making the "quenelle" salute, which he has said was a tribute to his friend Dieudonne.

"We can confirm that Mr Dieudonne is subject to an exclusion order. The home secretary will seek to exclude an individual from the UK if she considers that there are public policy or public security reasons to do so," said a Home Office spokeswoman.
