US democratic presidential nominee Bernie Sanders said Sunday that if the democrats want a candidate who can beat republican rival Donald Trump, "our campaign is the campaign to do it."

"Let me be very clear in telling you that if we get the democratic nomination, Donald Trump is toast," said Sanders to a cheering crowd in Visalia.

"Every national poll and every state wide poll that has come out in the last couple of months, in almost all of those polls we beat Trump. But we not only beat him, we beat him by double digit margins," said Sanders pointing to a recent poll in California which gave the senator from Vermont a 17-points lead ahead of Donald Trump.
