Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Republican Paul Ryan began his speech at the AIPAC conference in Washington D.C. Monday evening.

Ryan recalled the House's emergency funding for the Iron Dome during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. He also committed to spend his next trip abroad in Israel, saying that America is safer when it stands with the Jewish state.

The former vice presidential candidate called for America's friends to be "treated like friends, not left in the lurch."
