National sports icon and goodwill ambassador Tal Brody will be awarded an honorary doctorate from Bar Ilan University for "enhancing the spirit" and "engendering good will" for the country he famously helped "put on the map."

According to the citation for the doctorate, which will be awarded to Brody as part of the 62nd annual meetings of the Board of Trustees in mid-May, Broday "brings his boundless love for and pride in the Jewish people to the fore, and as such, has become a symbol of pride of Israelis and American Jewry alike."
