Suspect confesses to 1979 choking death of NY boy

NEW YORK - A New Jersey man has been arrested after confessing to choking to death 6-year-old Etan Patz near the boy's New York City home in 1979, New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said on Thursday, confirming a major break in a long-unsolved case that drew national attention to the plight of missing children.
Kelly told a press conference that Pedro Hernandez has told police he enticed Patz into a neighborhood store in New York's Soho neighborhood, and then choked him to death in the basement.
