BEIRUT - Syria's army and its allies are bombarding the last Islamic State remnants in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor in preparation for entering the final district they hold, a military news service run by the army's ally Hezbollah said on Friday.

The army has gained control of al-Hamidiya, Sheikh Yassin, al-Ardhi and al-Rashidia districts in recent fighting, and has only al-Hawiqa district left to take, the media unit reported.
