Syrian deputy FM: Any attack against Syria will result in regional chaos

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad warned the US against striking in Syria in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.

Damascus would not just retaliate against Israel, he said, but also against Jordan and Turkey.

"Once the war starts nobody can control what will happen. We believe that any attack against Syria will definitely result in chaos in the entire region if not beyond," he said.

Mekdad also rejected American claims that the Assad regime used chemical weapons against the Syrian people.
